BDC Mission:
Bouand DanceCompany’s mission is to present new, eclectic modern ballet/contemporary dance
performance and to provide mentorship for young dancers in transition from student to
professional status.
Bouand DanceCompany is a repertory-based contemporary ballet company based in Portland,
Oregon. It provides a local outlet for contemporary ballet and European style dance-theater,
revivals of smaller works by established choreographers and new works by significant emerging choreographers.
In addition it serves the community both by providing a professional mentoring program
for local students with professional intent, collaborating with local artists in other mediums and by
producing and presenting works choreographed by young artists from the European Union and
beyond, whos work is otherwise largely inaccessible to local audiences.
International Choreographers Project:
Bouand DanceCompany is committed to sponsoring and presenting young European-based
choreographers, both as an effort to provide opportunity for the choreographers themselves, and to
expose the local audiences and dance community to their work. These young choreographers have
worked with the giants of Contemporary dance in Europe; Mats Ek, Jiri Kylian, William
Forsythe, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Ohad Naharin and many others. BDC is delighted to
produce, perform and fund their efforts to learn their craft and help them become the next generation
of contemporary dancemakers on and for the world stage.
