
Alexandrous Ballard: Artistic Director
Alexandrous Ballard, Artistic Director, began ballet at the age of thirteen in
Walnut Creek,California. After several years of training, he moved to New York
to study with master teacher Margaret Craske, the Joffrey Ballet School NY, Maggie
Black, David Howard, School of American Ballet and in Paul Taylor Company
Summer Workshops. Alex began his professional ballet career with the Joyce Trisler
Danscompany, New York Theatre Ballet, and Redbank Ballet. After appearing as
a soloist with Cythia Gregory and Delta Festival Ballet, he was asked to join
the Cleveland/San Jose Ballet, where he did soloist and principal roles in
addition to meeting his wife to be, Leslie Braverman.
Alex has performed with Ballet Royale de Wallonie, Richmond Ballet and Oregon
Ballet Theatre, with whom he danced for seven years in principal roles.
He has been on the teaching staff at the School of Oregon Ballet Theatre where
he taught mens and adult technique classes.
After retiring, Mr. Ballard became a certified Alexander Technique teacher and owns
and operates his own practice in Portland, Oregon, Alexander Technique NW.
Mr. Ballard currently teaches technique classes for advanced boys and girls,
as founding faculty of the well-respected Men’s program at Pacific Artist Dance Center
in Portland, Oregon. To date Mr. Ballard has choreographed over 25 works, and is
currently Ballet Master and resident choreographer for Pacific Artist Dance Theatre,
the youth company attached to Pacific Artists Dance Center.
